Computer Career Center offers several medical training options through its medical assistant school programs at the El Paso and Las Cruces campuses. Medical assistant training from CCC can be completed in one of two ways: The associate degree takes 72 calendar weeks to complete. The medical assistant certificating program can be completed in as few as 10 months. Through these programs, students learn the basics of offering patient care and assisting physicians, such as taking x-rays, reading vital signs, preparing examination rooms, and interacting with patients.
At CCC\'s Las Cruces, New Mexico or El Paso, Texas nursing assistant training school, students learn the fundamentals of basic patient care. For students interested in the nursing field, CCC\'s program offers three allied health training programs: nurse\'s assistant certificating, vocational nurse certification, nurse assistant home health aide certificate program. The curriculum teaches basic skills including feeding; basic first aid; proper body mechanics of patient care; taking vital signs; and understanding the complexities of patient emotional and physical health. The medical information specialist training (MIST) teaches students to become competent managers and employees of medical offices. Cited as one of the fastest-growing job fields in the United States by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), medical billers, coders, and administrators are needed more than ever as government health care rules and regulations continue to change and evolve. Students are instructed in necessary skills, such as the proper use of a professional medical vocabulary; medical transcription; and insurance billing and coding. They are also instructed in the use of major proprietary software commonly used in medical offices.
The legal assistant training certification is a school program that can be completed in 10 months. Students learn to deal with computerized legal office records management; use legal terminology; conduct legal transcriptions; and understand business law. Students can find careers as legal assistants or legal secretaries at law firms ranging from major corporate intellectual property firms to small pro bono practices.
